Hub and I took a quick trip to NYC a couple weeks ago, and already I can’t wait to visit the city again. (I’ve talked to people who say NY tends to have that affect :-))
Of the museums we visited, the Frick and the Guggenheim (pictured above) are my faves. The architecture of both buildings is striking, and the collections are just amazing. Art is such a subjective thing, and for me, almost every single piece at the Guggenheim – including the huge mobile in the entry – is so breathtaking.
New York Public Library: Door Detail
I have a thing for intricately detailed doors, and this one at the New York Public Library is just beautiful. Actually, the entire building is stunning. If I ever have majority share in a marble company – or become a kabazillionaire, whichever comes first – I’m going to outfit at least part of my dream house in Greek key laden marble like the NYPL. Maybe the pool area? So many decisions a kabazillionaire has to make.
I’m not really a pancake/waffle/French toast girl – I prefer eggs for breakfast – but when I saw “Lemon Ricotta Pancakes” on the menu at The Garden, I knew I had to have them. (Lemon is one of my all-time favorite flavors.) These pancakes were so light and fluffy and lemony and melt-in-my-mouth-y that I didn’t even need any syrup. I ended up adding a bit to appease hubby, who just couldn’t believe I was eating “dry” pancakes. I mean, he looked appalled. Oh, the things we do to maintain a happy marriage… 🙂
I plan to recreate this dish sometime in the near future. Should be interesting, especially considering I’ve never actually made pancakes before. (The mushy, messy disaster I attempted a couple years ago has been scratched from the record.)
Also, here’s a quick look at one of the few outfit pics I managed to take during our little vacay:
Special thanks to my BFF, who convinced me to get these bright fuchsia pants when I was on the fence about them. Did I mention that they are bright? And fuchsia? And bright? I’ve definitely come a long way from here 🙂
My purse kept unbuttoning my shirt – I think I flashed half of NYC, but with it being NYC, no one said anything or even looked twice…gotta love it – until I realized that all I had to do was wear the purse over the other shoulder. Another D’OH (*slapping forehead*) moment.
