CND Stickey and Seche Vite Top Coat* (available at Ulta)
While I miiiiight be ever-so-slightly color phobic when it comes to makeup – I’m making a bit of an effort, though, per this post 🙂 – I adore nail polishes, especially bright or dark saturated shades. My perennial faves are OPI’s timeless Big Apple Red and Lincoln Park After Dark, both of which really do flatter all complexions.
Aside: I’m noticing a lot of magazine ads (Chanel and Dolce & Gabana, for example) and editorials featuring models with a bright red lip and dark Lincoln Park-ish nails. That combination is so chic to me. Now back to the story at hand.
Completely sick and tired of chip city nails only 2 days post mani, I consulted blogger and friend-in-my-head Ms. Channing over at Channing in the City (definitely go check her out!) for her picks for the best base and top coats. Needless to say, she was right on the money: I’m happy – ecstatic, really – to report that I’m on day 5 (yes F-I-V-E) of glossy, still-chip-free candy apple red nails! And that’s with no re-apps. Imagine if I refreshed the top coat every few days…
* Seche Vite Quick Dry Top Coat has been an InStyle Magazine Best Beauty Buy darling for years, and I have to say that so far, it definitely lives up to the hype. Also, I usually go for 3-free (i.e. containing no formaldehyde, dibutylphthalate (DBP), or toluene) nail products, but I made an exception for this product, which is 2-free.
